Shipments from orders managed by different dispatchers are assessed for consolidation at major hubs.
AI & Logistics case study
Intelligent hub-level load and route planning that keeps dispatchers in control of operationally sensitive decisions.
A European logistics company needed to coordinate shipments across multiple hubs, dispatchers, vehicles, and delivery routes. At major hubs, freight from orders managed by different dispatchers had to be consolidated into individual trucks while respecting vehicle capacity, trailer floor metres, legal weight, drive-axle constraints, delivery windows, and route requirements. Eleco Technologies built a custom Transport Management System and back-office optimisation engine that turns these constraints into dispatcher-reviewed loading and delivery recommendations.
Freight combined across available shipments
Capacity, route, delivery, and legal checks
Recommended loading and delivery plans
Dispatchers retain final control
Route, sequence, shipment, floor capacity, vehicle capacity, legal weight, and axle-load controls are evaluated.
Recommendations can be reviewed, adjusted, and approved before release into operations.
Client challenge
What the organisation needed to solve
Consolidating freight at busy hubs involved more than filling available vehicle space. Every loading plan had to account for destination, delivery sequence, shipment weight, trailer floor metres, vehicle capacity, legal total vehicle weight, maximum permitted drive-axle load, delivery windows, and route-specific requirements. Much of this coordination depended on manual communication and individual dispatcher experience, making it difficult to plan consistently across teams while maintaining appropriate control over legally and operationally sensitive decisions.
Eleco Technologies solution
How the platform addressed the problem
Eleco Technologies built a custom Transport Management System that connects fleet tracking, route planning, orders, loads, drivers, customers, and financial reporting. Its back-office optimisation engine analyses the shipments available at each hub and recommends how freight can be consolidated into individual vehicles. Before producing a recommended loading and delivery plan, the engine evaluates route compatibility, shipment weight, trailer capacity, delivery sequence, and legal weight constraints. Dispatchers can review, adjust, and approve each recommendation before it is released into operations.

Delivery approach
Connected hub operations, dispatchers, vehicles, orders, loads, drivers, customers, and finance in one operational system rather than relying on fragmented planning information.
Modelled freight consolidation against both commercial objectives and hard physical or legal constraints, including floor capacity, vehicle mass, drive-axle limits, delivery windows, and route requirements.
Designed the optimisation engine as a recommendation layer: dispatchers retain the ability to assess, adjust, and approve every loading and delivery plan before operational release.
Technology stack
Measured outcomes
Operational results that make the engagement commercially credible.
Supports better truck utilisation by identifying feasible freight-consolidation options at major hubs before vehicles are assigned to operations.
Enables faster transport planning by evaluating shipment, route, capacity, delivery, and legal-constraint information within a single operational workflow.
Supports more consistent loading decisions across dispatch teams by making relevant operational checks explicit in every recommendation.
Helps reduce avoidable kilometres and manual coordination while preserving dispatcher control over legally and operationally sensitive decisions.
